What this site collects, why, and how to get it back or deleted. Today herbie is one page and a waitlist: no accounts, no payments, no advertising.

Who is responsible
BALLOT Corporation, 2810 North Church Street, No. 253903, Wilmington, DE 19802, United States. Write to hello@herbie.build about anything on this page. We decide what this site collects and why, which under European law makes us the “controller”.
When you visit
The pages, the fonts, the images and the 3D scenes are all served from this site. Nothing is fetched from anyone else's servers, so no third party sees that you were here.
Our hosts do see the ordinary details every web request carries: your IP address, the page asked for, the time, your browser's user-agent string and the page you came from. They are needed to serve the site and to keep it up, and our hosts keep them briefly in their own logs. In European terms the basis is our legitimate interest in running a working, secure site.
No cookies. This site sets none, for any purpose, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss. No analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording, no chat widget, no embedded video or maps, no captcha. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
One thing is kept on your device: if you switch between the light and dark theme, your choice is stored in your browser under herbie-theme so the site looks the same next time. It never leaves your device and we never see it. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
When you join the waitlist
The form asks for your email address and which parts of herbie you're interested in (piloting, building worlds or robots, training policies, buying data). We also record which page you signed up from, when, and how many times you've submitted the form, so we can tell duplicates apart.
We use it for one thing: to tell you when early access opens, and what it opens with. It is not sold, rented, shared or used for advertising, and there is no other mailing list it joins. In European terms the basis is your consent, given when you submit the form.
If you answer the follow-up questions after signing up (your headset, your simulator, what you'd bring), those answers are kept with your signup and used to plan what to build first. They are optional, and the form works without them.
We keep your signup until early access opens and we've written to you, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. Ask at hello@herbie.build and it's gone.
Who else can see it
Two companies, both acting only on our instructions:
- Vercel Inc. (United States) serves the site itself.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) runs the waitlist form's endpoint and stores the signups.
Nobody else receives any of it. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioural advertising — under California's law those terms have specific meanings, and neither applies here.
Both companies are in the United States, so signing up from the UK or the EU means your email address is transferred there. That transfer relies on the mechanisms those companies publish for it — their certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Wherever you are, write to hello@herbie.build and we'll act on it. You can ask us to:
- send you a copy of what we hold about you;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- stop using it, or hand it over in a portable form;
- withdraw your consent, which removes you from the waitlist.
Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR we answer within one month. If we get it wrong, you can complain to your data protection authority — in the UK the Information Commissioner's Office, in the EU the authority for the country you live in.
If you're in California: the categories we collect are identifiers (your email address) and your stated interests; the purpose is the one described above; we don't sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, and a Global Privacy Control signal has nothing to act on here. You can exercise the rights above without being treated differently for it.
Children
herbie is built for people working with robots and simulation, and isn't aimed at children. Don't sign up if you're under 16. We don't knowingly keep anything from anyone younger; if you think a child has signed up, write to hello@herbie.build and we'll delete it.
How it's kept
The site is served over HTTPS. The waitlist endpoint accepts a request only from this site, limits how often it can be called, and stores signups in a database that isn't reachable from the public internet. Access to the signups is limited to the people running herbie.
Changes to this page
When what the site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top changes too. If the change is a significant one — a new purpose for your email address, say — we'll say so in the email we send you.
